ROXBOROUGH MEMORIAL HOSPITAL DONATES THANKSGIVING MEALS TO 40 AREA FAMILIES

Philadelphia, PA (November 20, 2020) Thanksgiving will be a bit brighter for 40 families in need, thanks to a contribution from Roxborough Memorial Hospital, and its partnership with North Light Community Center. Roxborough Memorial Hospital donated 40 holiday meals to North Light Community Center with the goal of serving families who might otherwise have to forgo a Thanksgiving dinner for the holiday.

The dinner basket drive mobilized teammates at both the hospital and the School of Nursing and benefited the region through North Light Community Center. The center distributed the meals to families who did not have the means to provide their own Thanksgiving dinner.

“At Roxborough Memorial Hospital, we believe that our mission of enhancing our community’s health and well-being extends beyond the boundaries of our hospital,” said Leslie Finnegan, director of radiology of Roxborough Memorial Hospital. “We hope this donation will bring joy to deserving families in our region.”

Many local and regional food banks are experiencing extremely low levels of food for distribution to community-based food banks because of COVID-19 and the rising food prices and the state of the economy in our country. Last year, North Light Community Center distributed over 160,000 pounds of food last year and helped 1,800 individuals with critical supports including food and utility assistance.

“Our hospital is here every day caring for people and this donation to North Light Community Center allows us to say “thank you" to local charities, who are serving the community, and who will use our gifts of food to reach people in need. I could not be prouder of this tradition and the generosity of our great team,” Finnegan added.
