62 Complete Roxborough Memorial Hospital School of Nursing 21-Month ProgramPatricia T. Nelson, Ed.D., R.N., vice president for education at Roxborough Memorial Hospitals School of Nursing, has announced the graduation of 62 nursing students, the largest class in the schools 108-year history. Ten members of the class have chosen to begin their professional nursing careers at Roxborough Memorial Hospital. As our country continues to experience a national nursing shortage, we are pleased to introduce 62 capable and caring individuals to the nursing field, said Dolores Alabrodzinski, MSN, RN, Roxborough Memorial Hospital School of Nursing director of nursing education. Among the 52 women and 10 men in the class, 42 reside in Philadelphia with the remaining 20 from Montgomery, Delaware and Bucks Counties and the state of New Jersey. Rosemarie Riggio presented the class farewell address during the May 26, 2006 ceremony at the St. Philip Neri Church located in Lafayette, Hill, Pa. Jill Tillman, MSN, MBA, chief operating officer at St. Christophers Hospital for Children, delivered the graduation address while John J. Donnelly, Jr., chief executive officer at Roxborough Memorial Hospital, presented the degrees to the graduates. Lisa A. Battersby and Stacey A. Collazzo were co-winners of the Roxborough Memorial Medical Staffs Academic Proficiency Award, presented by Dr. Patrick Lenahen, as the graduates who achieved the highest academic average. Ms. Battersby also received the Marion Knoelke Memorial Award for the graduate who achieved a 90 or above academic average, was above average in clinical ability, and demonstrated loyalty and leadership average at the school. Other award winners included Marie Kirkwood , the Samuel L. McClennen Memorial Award; Michelle Feiller, the Mr. and Mrs. William M. Martin, Sr. Memorial Award; Jon Shane and Patricia Graves, the Margaret Jackson Memorial Award; Rosemarie Riggio, the school recruitment award, and Megan Barbaro, the team leadership award. Founded in 1898, the Roxborough Memorial Hospital School of Nursing is a 21-month hospital-based program providing a unique blend of nursing theory along with a strong clinical component supplemented with college courses in the sciences and humanities.
