A recreation lounge and a large social room are provided for student activities. Students may purchase meals at the hospital. The hours of the School of Nursing building are determined by the school calendar. Student ServicesThe Health ProgramThe emphasis of the Health Program is prevention. A physical examination, annual tuberculosis testing, and laboratory studies are required for students and performed by their personal health care provider. Students are responsible for the cost of medical expenses incurred through illness or accident and are required to have hospital insurance coverage throughout their enrollment in the nursing program. Students are required to have certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation for adult, child, and infant. Students must meet the Pennsylvania Department of State, State Board of Nursing Professional and Vocational Standards requirements for health. Child Abuse and State and Federal Criminal Record checks are required. Students must also successfully pass drug screenings. Counseling and GuidanceCounseling services and referral resources are available to promote and support academic, personal, and professional growth. In addition, all students are assigned a faculty advisor to assist with academic counseling. Career Counseling / Job PlacementStudents are offered career counseling, instruction in writing professional resumes and successful interviewing techniques. A collaborative relationship is maintained with area healthcare recruiters for assistance in job placement. School PoliciesStudent privileges and responsibilities are addressed in the Student Handbook which is distributed to students during orientation. This handbook provides an overview of the Roxborough Memorial Hospital School of Nursing Policies and Procedures. Its purpose is to serve as a guide for the student body. Orientation is mandatory. |
