Academic and Administrative Policies

Attendance

The faculty believes that participation in all classroom and clinical activities promotes excellence in nursing practice. Therefore, attendance is mandatory at all classroom and clinical experiences.

School Policies

Student privileges and responsibilities are addressed in the Student Handbook which is distributed to students annually during orientation or upon request. Under the program of study, students will be required to make a satisfactory score on nationally normed tests given throughout the curriculum. In the last semester/quarter of the curriculum, students will be required to take a comprehensive test and to make a satisfactory score on such a test prior to receiving a diploma.

Grading Policy

Each nursing course is measured in relation to its hours. Cumulative averages are derived by dividing the total quality points by the total credit hours attempted in a term. The following are letter grade and quality point equivalents.

Grade Quality Points
91-100 A 4.0
87-90 B+ 3.5
83-86 B 3.0
79-82 C+ 2.5
75-78 C 2.0
70-74 F 0
below 70 F 0

One term credit is equal to 12.5 hours of theory or 50 hours of clinical practice. Term credits assigned to nursing courses are utilized for grading and financial purposes and are not meant to imply transferable credits.
