
Board Certified Gynecologist Joins Roxborough Memorial StaffRoxborough Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce the appointment of board-certified gynecologist Vilma E. Ruddock, M.D. to its medical staff. She comes to Philadelphia from Canton, GA where she served since 2002 on the medical staff of Northside Hospital - Cherokee, and as the Director of the Advanced Center for Women in a private practice, Medical Associates of North Georgia. Dr. Ruddock specializes in all aspects of adult and adolescent general gynecology, as well as reproductive endocrinology and infertility, and the evaluation and treatment of disorders of hormones, menstruation and reproduction. Prior to joining Medical Associates of North Georgia, Dr. Ruddock was the Medical Director for a large, comprehensive Women's Center at Boston Medical Center, an academic medical center in Boston, MA. In addition to managing all aspects of the center, she maintained a busy clinical practice and taught residents and medical students as well. In addition, she served on many committees for improving the performance of the medical center and the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. A Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Ruddock is a 1979 graduate of the Harvard Medical School. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology in 1983 at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, and a clinical and research fellowship in reproductive endocrinology at that same institution in 1985. Her academic appointments have included service as a Clinical Instructor in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Clinical Instructor in Surgery at the Harvard Medical School, and a Clinical Assistant Professorship in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Boston University. In 1998 she received the Stanley Bergen, Jr., M.D. Award for Achievement in Medicine from Seton Hall University, her undergraduate alma mater, "I believe that in an era where the health care system in the United States is continually evolving and uncertain, the one thing that must remain constant is that the patient is at the center of all we do and has the best experience and outcome possible," Dr. Ruddock says.
