Families and friends
filled St. Philip Neri Church in Lafayette Hill on May 22 to
congratulate the Roxborough Memorial Hospital School of
Nursing graduating class of 2008. John J. Donnelly, Jr., the
hospitals chief executive officer, conferred 61 diplomas
following the graduation address by Ms. Karen Blount, R.N.,
M.S., P.N.P., chief nursing officer at St. Christophers
Hospital for Children, and the farewell address from class
president Jerome Justin Joyner.
Dr. Patricia T. Nelson,
the hospitals vice president for Education, introduced medical
staff president Dr. Patrick J. Lenahen who presented the
Academic Proficiency Award to Ms. Susan Lee Trach for achieving
the highest scholastic average in Nursing> He also presented the Marion Knoelke
Memorial Award to Ms. Elizabeth Ann Krier for the graduate who
had a 90 or above academic average in nursing, was above average
in clinical ability, loyal to self and school, and demonstrated
leadership qualities.
Other award winners
included Ms. Christine D. Tokarski and Ms. Yetunde Monifa
Ogunleye who received the Samuel L. McClennen Memorial Award as
the students who best exemplified Mr. McClennens personal
spirit of self motivation and work ethic; the Mr. and Mrs.
William M. Martin, Sr. Memorial Award to Ms. Teresa M. Espinosa
and Ms. Edith R. Statton for graduating students who
demonstrated excellence in performance of their clinical
responsibilities; the Margaret Jackson Memorial Award to Ms.
Anita Delquadro for the student who obtained
their goal by facing and overcoming obstacles in their
path to become a professional nurse; and the Recruitment
Award to Ms. Catherine M. McCabe for the student who
demonstrated a sincere willingness to attend recruitment events
and referred numerous qualified and accepted students into the
nursing program.
The
School of
Nursing expects to have a record 144
students, including a record 80 freshmen, when the 2008-2009
academic year begins on
August 4, 2008
